Confinium is a small studio making native, offline-first creative tools, built to stay on your machine. Right now we're building Eightfield.
Confinium develops software for people who make things. Native, focused, offline-first, built to do one job well and then get out of the way. No subscriptions. No tracking. No cloud holding your work hostage.
We're not ready to say much yet. What we can say: the first tool, Eightfield, is taking shape, and it follows from a single idea about where the interesting work happens.
A place of separation and connection, control and freedom. That is what a border really is, and it is where we choose to work.
It separates two worlds, yet it is the one place they are forced to touch. It is drawn to control what passes, yet standing on it is the freest view there is, looking both ways at once.
We build on that line: between the old and the new, the craft people already trust and the techniques only now becoming possible. Neither gets thrown away. Both are made to meet.
So everything we make lives between restraint and possibility, between what your machine can do on its own and what it should never have to send away. Confinium is the studio that works there.
Offline-first by default. Your work is yours. No cloud round-trips, no telemetry, no account standing between you and the thing you opened the app to do.
Focused tools over feature sprawl. We'd rather ship something small and sharp than something large and vague.
We meet proven workflows where they are and extend them with what's newly possible, carefully, and only where it earns its place.
Distort images through 3D space as lines, points, or pixels, then turn the result into video. Drive it automatically in sync with your music, or shape every move by hand on an interactive 3D Canvas.
Coming soonThe studio is just getting started. Here's the shape of what's coming, with details when they're ready.
Our first app. Distort images in 3D space as lines, points, or pixels, and render them to video, synced to music or shaped by hand.
An ecosystem of focused software, same philosophy, same place on the line.
Software that stays on your machine: native, offline-first, and made to be explored from.
